Criminal Trial Film Project

Marc Howe, Senior Lecturer in Law, School of Social Sciences and Law, and law students Kayleigh Harrison-Dunford, Adam Najak and Izzy Jaques talked about the Criminal Trial Film project. Funded by the BSLES, this was an experiential learning project intended to bring the study of law to life by enabling students to experience and reflect upon how academic law finds expression in a professional legal context.
A mock trial, based on a real case, was filmed by AV Services in the Old Crown Court in Oxford. Experienced barristers prosecuted and defended the case and took the role of the judge, whilst the defendant, prosecution witnesses and jury were all played by law undergraduates.
A DVD has been made of the recording, from which Marc showed a sequence.
